Crossroads Cottage

The homeowners of the Crossroads Cottage had one request: Please get rid of our cape cod and turn it into an arts and crafts bungalow. This simple, yet daunting, request required the kind of renovation that rendered the original home completely unrecognizable.

The arts and crafts style structure were created by eliminating the existing second floor. The rear of the home was deconstructed, taking it back to its original rectangular footprint, one that had been added onto room by room over many years. From here, the architect was able to create a new language with the sweeping roof lines and dormers. By adding a front porch to the home, the bungalow style was further expressed and provided a much-needed anchor for the entrance to the property.
