The Pond House

The homeowners of the Pond House were already residents of the neighborhood, but were looking for a location with more property to make their forever home. With the purchase of two adjacent lots, they were able to build their dream home and outdoor landscape. The layout was driven by the need for a first floor living style for the empty nesters, with more privacy towards the front of the house, but wide open views towards their rear terrace, pond and gardens.

The home is made up of so many other unique points of interest, including separate ‘away’ spaces for the couple to work and relax, a quaint garden shed for finding peace in planting and a beautiful custom encaustic floor tile at the entry, which was inspired by a childhood memory of a grandparent’s home a world away. The landscape, which was given just as much importance as the architecture, creates an oasis that rivals public arboretums and provides the ultimate get away space for the family to enjoy.
