Nestled on a wooded lot in the City of Falls Church, this renovation reimagines how a modern suburban home engages with its natural surroundings. Like a shadow in the woods, the house recedes into the trees, allowing the natural landscape to take center stage. A dark, monochromatic exterior contrasts with the vibrant softscape, heightening the colors and textures of the site.

Inside, a strong circulation axis along the rear of the main level is washed in southern light, offering layered views to the backyard as you move through the home. A double-height family room anchors the plan, strengthening the connection between floors while drawing natural light deep into the interior. The integration of natural elements inside and out reinforces the home’s quiet, enduring relationship with its setting.
