The Stuart House replaces a 1930s Four-Square with a new Craftsman-inspired home that respects the neighborhood’s historic character while meeting the needs of modern living. Designed for empty nesters preparing to age in place, the home reimagines a traditional first floor by integrating the bedroom suite, laundry, and office with the familiar social spaces of an open kitchen, dining, and living room. A sun-filled solarium extends into the backyard, creating a year-round, conditioned retreat that visually and physically connects the owners to their garden and the outdoors. The detached one-car garage, tucked into the back corner of the property, deemphasizes the automobile and preserves a pedestrian-oriented streetscape that reflects Arlington’s character and sense of place
